Asbestos survey

In most buildings in the Netherlands dating from before 1993, asbestos is present. Sometimes the exact location of the asbestos in the building is known, e.g. because the information can be found by examining the building records. But often this is not the case.

An asbestos survey can then provide clarity. And even if material suspected of containing asbestos has been found, only examination under an electron microscope can determine whether it really is asbestos.

Research

Only microscopic research can determine whether something contains asbestos. A request for analysis can be made at the website of Oesterbaai Engineers through the following link: http://www.oesterbaai.nl/particulieren.php

They will send you an envelope with all the necessities for research to be carried out. As soon as this laboratory survey is finished, you will receive written notice.

Asbestos inventory survey

There are different types of asbestos survey, e.g. a risk analysis or a global survey. In the case of the demolition of a building, an extensive asbestos survey is usually mandatory. This survey can only be performed by certified asbestos inspection companies. In the case of the demolition of objects, an extensive asbestos survey is always mandatory. This extensive asbestos survey comprises studying the building records and identifies the presence of suspected asbestos-containing materials on site. If necessary, a risk analysis can provide insight into possible health hazards. If asbestos has been found, soil and air samples can indicate the presence of concentrations of asbestos fibres that exceed the legal limit.
